Florida - Feb Break 2018

For February break, we had a trip planned to visit Papa G and Sandy in Florida. It was a strange feeling to leave town and not have to accommodate our furry child. It was also sad to arrive and see Papa G because he wasn't here when Otis passed and we all grieved for him together. But it was a good time for a visit, to keep our minds occupied and our bodies busy in the warm Florida sun.

These kids are getting pretty good at traveling these days. We fill their backpacks with activities and snacks and they love being responsible for their own stuff. This was our first time flying on Allegiant Air, which is a budget airline that just started flying direct from Rochester to Punta Gorda (30 minute drive from Larry's house). There is no wifi nor movies on Allegiant, we decided to give the kids each  Kindle for Valentine's Day. It was a wise purchase.

Beach Day!

Dinner at The Lighthouse Grill at Stump Pass Marina

We took a day trip to Myakka State Park. This included an airboat ride to see the hundreds of alligators that live there and a tree walk with amazing views.

In the evening, we taught Parker how to play our dice game and she won big! (Sandy was a big winner too.)

We rented a boat to cruise around Gasparilla Sound.

We visited with our good friends, the Hausners, before heading to dinner one night.

We took the kids on a kayak trip. The route took us through some mangrove tunnels with tons of tiny black crabs and then out by pelican island.
