Moving Up Day

Last week, Parker completed her school year in the Garineem classroom at the JCC.  (All of the classes have Jewish names such as this.  We don't know what it means but we love the place anyway)  Her teachers, Miss Lory, Miss Liz, and Miss Katie, planned a Moving Up Party where all of the families were invited for some afternoon ice cream at the center.  Parker did not really cooperate with wearing her graduation cap or walking over the bridge.  However, she did cooperate with eating ice cream.

The party was over at 4:30 and we didn't know what to do with ourselves and all that extra time on a week night!  This is what resulted:

The school is closed for a whole week before the time in the new classrooms begins.  Starting July 1, Parker will be in the Yedideem classroom.  We have met her new teachers, Miss Brittany, Miss Shelby, and Miss Melanie and think Parker is going to love that room too.  Greg is playing Mr. Mom Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning.  I will be home with Parker Wednesday afternoon and then we fly to St. Louis on Thursday...

No pool, no problem!

We had some pretty warm weather this weekend, reaching close to 90.  While Greg went mountain biking on Sunday, I filled up a cooler with water and let Parker go at it.  She entertained herself like this for 45 minutes.

We had our company picnic on Friday and I finally gave Parker her goodie bag yesterday.  She loved the necklaces and little plastic watch.  She loved the necklaces so much that she wanted Otis to wear them too.  The poor guy stood there like that for a full five minutes before I took them off!

Father's Day 2013

We knew in advance that the weather on Saturday was supposed to be much nicer than Sunday so we took the opportunity for a hike at Canadice Lake, which is south of Rochester in the Finger Lakes region.  It is a very flat trail that just wraps around the outside of the lake.  Parker did great in her backpack and Otis loved the swimming.

On the way back we let Parker walk in a little creek. She had on gray leggings and you can see the water line of how deep she went. We were close to the car with multiple changes of clothes, so not a big deal.

On Saturday evening, Parker spent the night at Papa G & Sandy's house so we could attend a beer festival in our neighborhood.

We had a great time and Parker did great on her first sleepover.  She had lots of fun being read to and putting rollers in her hair.  I could tell she felt very at home there because she barely cared when we arrived in the morning to pick her up.

Sunday night, I cooked Greg a surf & turf dinner.  Tenderloin and lobster tails on the grill.  We dined al fresco and Otis even got to have some corn on the cob.
