Talent Show

Like most kids, Parker has a fascination with seeing herself on a camera or video camera so often times when I get one out to use, she runs around to the back side to see the end result.  I finally remembered that my phone has a front facing camera on it, so we did a little test run this weekend.

Unfortunately you have to listen to my singing some of the time and you can see that Parker is a little awestruck at first, but she does put on quite a display of her many talents.

Enjoy!

Day Off

My office was closed for President's Day so I got to play stay-at-home Mom!  First on the agenda was a lovely, crowd-free shopping excursion to Wegman's...pure bliss.  Then we went to a story/music session at a local library.  I was specifically looking for an event such as this to attend because they only offer them during the week so all of us working Moms can never attend.  This one was for a book called "Giraffes Can't Dance" which was given to me by one of my oldest friends, Mary, at my baby shower.  It has become one of my favorite books to read and Parker regularly pulls it off the shelf before bedtime.

I was interested to see how Parker would react to such a crowd and it did overwhelm her just a bit.  We got there early and walked around the Children's section of the library first and the filed into the room with everyone else when it was time to start.  At first I sat on the floor with Parker, but she wasn't really happy about that so I got up and sat in a chair with her on my lap.  I snuck a few pictures from my phone.  The first song was about beach balls (not related to the Giraffe book) and you can see all the balloons and balls they threw in the crowd to bounce around.  Then they handed out musical instruments for the kids to play during the Giraffe set.  Parker seemed a little bewildered most of the time, but she did enjoy banging the noise stick and shaking the shaker.

Valentine's Day 2013

We did a few special things last week to celebrate America's favorite Hallmark holiday with our little Valentine.  I assembled a lasagna the night before and made a special mini version for Parker's dinner on Valentine's Day.

I made Valentines for all of the kids in Parker's class, as well as her three teachers.  Parker contributed an original peice of artwork to the back of each.

At the request of her teachers, Parker wore red to school.  Here is Greg with his new favorite Valentine getting a kiss for the day.

And finally a picture of Parker holding hands with one of her buddies after their walk at school that day...

First Night Away

The weekend of January 26th was Greg and my first trip away from Parker.  One of Greg's best buddies from college was getting married on Treasure Island, Fl (outside of Tampa).  We asked my parents to come in and watch Parker for the weekend.  Having people so trustworthy to leave her with made it so much easier for me to leave her.

Greg left Thursday morning and had an extra night with just the guys.  My parents arrived Thursday afternoon and I left Friday morning.  Parker did absolutely awesome!  Papa G came and hung out with them a few times, so Parker had lots of Grandparent love surrounding her at all times.  My Mom sent periodic pictures throughout the weekend, here are some of them:

Out to lunch after a morning at the musuem

Meanwhile in Florida (and 75 degree weather), we had such a good time celebrating Nate & Angela's big day.  We rented a duplex right on the beach with two other college buddies, Joe from NYC and Klaus from Copenhagen.  We had the Groom's Dinner Friday night at a restaurant right down the beach, rented a boat on Saturday, and attended the beach wedding Saturday night.

Our flight was supposed to land in Rochester at 6:45 Sunday night, but alas it was delayed for three hours.  We were very sad to not see Parker that night, but we did score two RT tickets on Airtran for the inconvience!

We both missed Parker tons, but it was nice to get away (and sleep in!)
