It was relatively painless since we have another full bath on the first floor, but of course it cost more and took longer than we expected. We were able to put new exhaust fan and lighting into the bathroom below it while the floor was opened up. We also discovered some minor plumbing issues that were fixed. We are so happy with the way it turned out. Thanks to Gennie for helping us out and hooking us up with all Kohler stuff (and a quartz counter top!)
Greg has replaced four doors up there as well. The doors are all hung but need to be painted still, so you will see the unfinished wood in some photos.
Next we moved onto Parker's room. Because there is a crawl space above the room, Greg was able to get up there and install a ceiling fan, recessed lights, and a Nest smoke/carbon monoxide detector. He also replaced all of the switches, outlets, and closet lighting. Then, everything was painted. This made a huge different because the room (trim & all) was previously painted a dingy off-white. Finally, we got the floors refinished. Now Parker has the nicest bedroom in the house! We still have more things to hang on the walls but you get the idea. Before and after:
My Mom made the three throw pillows on the bed and the body pillow in the "nook". The "nook" was a second closet in the room to which we took the doors off and added floor cushions. Parker hasn't been very interested in it yet, I need to gussy it up a bit more. The dressers were in our bedroom at the old house and were originally a dark wood stain. I sanded them, primed and painted a navy blue and then added my very own "custom" knobs. They turned out pretty well!
