Beer Fest & Father's Day

Last weekend was a fun one for us!  It was the 2nd Annual Rchester Real Beer Expo, which is right in our neighborhood.  We invited people over to our house for a pre-party.  Greg grilled some appetizers and we had a pretty good turn out.  Some people never planned to go to the beer fest, but just came over for a visit.  The festival sold out and so some other friends weren't able to get tickets.  I did not get my camera out for the event, but here are a couple pics from our friend Laura.

Papa G watched Parker for us that night and she was not her usual easy self. Parker slept later than normal Saturday morning, until 7:45, and then proceeded to take a 3 hour morning nap. This means she did not wake up from her nap until 1:45. Big mistake, I learned my lesson there. No afternoon nap, meant a very cranky baby by 6:00.

The next day was Father's Day, so we walked up to a local breakfast place and then Greg went mountain bike riding with some buddies.  We went to dinner at Schooners Riverside Pub.  They had a live band and Parker got to wear a lei.

Parker liked watching the band

Outing with Daddy

Last Friday, Greg cut out of work early to pick Parker up from school and take her to the Wegman's LPGA at Locust Hill Country Club.  Greg has a buddy who has a 16 month-old daughter so they made it a Daddy/Daughter Day!

Greg fed her lunch, gave her a bottle, and even had to change her outfit after a too wet diaper.  Parker took a short nap in the BOB while they were rolling around the golf course.

Of course, I made Greg send me a picture while they were there.  Looks like she was having a good time to me!

Parker - 8 Months Old

Parker is 8 months old today!  We've had a big month with some major milestones accomplished.  She now has two teeth and can crawl.  The first tooth popped through the same weekend that she started to crawl...wonderfully timed for Grandma's visit from St. Louis.  Parker's crawling is still pretty limited, used to get to the closet toy.  She has yet to really take off and cover a lot of ground at one time.  She straightens her legs a lot into this tripod position:

Parker still claps often and will do the So Big on occasion.  Her newest trick is giving a high five and she is starting to work on waving bye-bye.  It is tough to get these actions on video because she is not very consistant yet...but we'll work on it.

The girl loves to eat and will eat anything we have her try now.  Her teachers at school comment on it often and what a joy she is to feed every day.  Parker's self-feeding skills have improved; the pincher grip is coming along.

New foods she has tried include:  egg, cheese, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, nectarines, blueberries, beans, turkey, and cheerios.  She loves her regular breakfast of whole milk yogurt mixed with fruit.  Some of her regular and favorite lunch veggies are sweet potatoes and peas.  I am still making most of her meals with fruits & veggies; basically doing the same process of steaming but then leaving it a very chunky puree.  This allows me to make ahead and freeze but still leaves some texture.

Parker's teachers also always rave at how good she is at playing on her own.  Just today she was perfectly occupied on the kitchen floor playing with a whisk, spoon, and a bowl.

Here's her 8 month photo shoot, not very many good shots this time:

And finally a few videos:
